Με ιδιαίτερη πνευματική χαρά και συγκίνηση πραγματοποιείται και εφέτος το 70ό Ετήσιο Πνευματικό Φεστιβάλ Ορθόδοξης Αναγέννησης (70th Annual Orthodox Spiritual Revival), η ετήσια αυτή πνευματική διοργάνωση–θεσμός για την Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία της Γκάνα, από τις 29 Ιανουαρίου έως και την 1η Φεβρουαρίου 2026, στο χωριό Gomoa Fomena της Κεντρικής Περιφέρειας της χώρας, τελούσα υπό την ευλογία του Μακαριωτάτου Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεόδωρου Β.
Εκατοντάδες πιστοί Ορθόδοξοι όλων των ηλικιών, προερχόμενοι από Ενορίες ολόκληρης της Γκάνα, συνοδευόμενοι από τους Εφημερίους τους, συρρέουν και φέτος στον τόπο της συνάξεως, στο Προσκύνημα του Αγίου Αρχαγγέλου Ραφαήλ, προκειμένου να μετάσχουν σε ημέρες έντονης προσευχής, πνευματικής οικοδομής, κοινωνίας και αδελφοσύνης. Η σύναξη αυτή αποτελεί εδώ και επτά δεκαετίες σημείο αναφοράς για την εκκλησιαστική ζωή της χώρας, ενισχύοντας την ενότητα του Σώματος της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας και ανανεώνοντας το πνευματικό φρόνημα των πιστών.
Το ετήσιο αυτό πνευματικό γεγονός εντάσσεται στο ευρύτερο και πολυσχιδές έργο της Ορθόδοξης Ιεραποστολής που επιτελεί αδιαλείπτως το Πατριαρχείο Αλεξανδρείας σε ολόκληρη την αφρικανική ήπειρο.
Με αποστολικό φρόνημα, θεμέλιο και κέντρο την Θεία Ευχαριστία και επίκεντρο τον άνθρωπο, η ιεραποστολή της Εκκλησίας δεν περιορίζεται στη μετάδοση του ευαγγελικού λόγου, αλλά αγκαλιάζει το σύνολο της ανθρώπινης ζωής, προβάλλοντας την Ορθοδοξία ως τρόπο ζωής, κοινωνίας, αγάπης και σωτηρίας.
Ιδιαίτερα στη Γκάνα, η μακρόχρονη αυτή πνευματική πορεία έχει καρποφορήσει με την ίδρυση δεκάδων Ορθοδόξων Ενοριών, την καλλιέργεια τοπικού κλήρου, την ενίσχυση της εκκλησιαστικής παιδείας, την ανάπτυξη φιλανθρωπικών και κοινωνικών δράσεων, καθώς και με τη βαθμιαία εμβάθυνση της εκκλησιαστικής συνείδησης των πιστών, σε αρμονικό διάλογο με τις τοπικές πολιτισμικές παραδόσεις.
Ιδιαίτερα συγκινητική είναι εφέτος η πρώτη επίσημη και μαζική παρουσία της Ορθόδοξης Νεολαίας της Γκάνα, με περισσότερους από εκατόν εξήντα νέους και νέες, γεγονός που μαρτυρεί τη ζωντάνια, τη δυναμική και τις ελπιδοφόρες προοπτικές της Εκκλησίας στο μέλλον. Η ενεργός συμμετοχή των νέων αποτελεί καρπό μακρόχρονης ποιμαντικής μέριμνας και ζωντανή απόδειξη ότι το ιεραποστολικό έργο της Εκκλησίας συνεχίζεται με σταθερότητα και προοπτική.
Το πολυήμερο πρόγραμμα του Φεστιβάλ περιλαμβάνει την καθημερινή τέλεση της Θείας Λειτουργίας και όλων των Ιερών Ακολουθιών, ιερό κήρυγμα επί του Ευαγγελίου, πνευματικές ομιλίες, καθώς και ποικίλες φιλανθρωπικές δράσεις, οι οποίες εκφράζουν έμπρακτα την αγάπη της Εκκλησίας προς τον συνάνθρωπο.
Παράλληλα, διοργανώνονται νεανικά παιχνίδια, πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις με τοπικούς παραδοσιακούς χορούς και απόδοση εκκλησιαστικών ύμνων, συνδέοντας αρμονικά την ορθόδοξη λατρευτική παράδοση με τον τοπικό πολιτισμό.
Σε όλες τις εκδηλώσεις παρίσταται και προΐσταται με πατρική μέριμνα ο οικείος ποιμενάρχης, Σεβασμιώτατος Μητροπολίτης Άκκρας κ. Δανιήλ, ο οποίος με την παρουσία, τον λόγο και την προσευχή του ενισχύει πνευματικά τον κλήρο και τον λαό, και ιδιαιτέρως τη νέα γενιά της Εκκλησίας, ευλογώντας την πορεία της Ορθοδοξίας στη γη της Γκάνα.
Το 70ό Ετήσιο Πνευματικό Φεστιβάλ Ορθόδοξης Αναγέννησης στο Gomoa Fomena αποτελεί ζωντανή μαρτυρία της ακμαίας παρουσίας της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας στην Αφρική και φωτεινό καρπό της ιεραποστολικής διακονίας του Πατριαρχείου Αλεξανδρείας, το οποίο συνεχίζει, με πίστη και θυσιαστική αγάπη, το αποστολικό έργο της Εκκλησίας «ἕως ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆς».

70th Annual Orthodox Spiritual Revival Festival in Gomoa Fomena, Ghana
(January 29 – February 1, 2026)
With profound spiritual joy and heartfelt emotion, the 70th Annual Orthodox Spiritual Revival Festival is being held once again this year — a well-established annual spiritual institution for the Orthodox Church in Ghana — from January 29 to February 1, 2026, in the village of Gomoa Fomena in the Central Region of the country, under the blessing of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore II.
Hundreds of Orthodox faithful of all ages, coming from parishes throughout Ghana and accompanied by their parish priests, are once again gathering at the place of assembly, the Shrine of the Holy Archangel Raphael, to participate in days of fervent prayer, spiritual edification, fellowship, and brotherhood.
For seven decades, this gathering has been a landmark event in the ecclesiastical life of the country, strengthening the unity of the Body of the Orthodox Church and renewing the spiritual commitment of the faithful.
This annual spiritual event forms part of the broader and multifaceted missionary work continuously carried out by the Patriarchate of Alexandria throughout the African continent. With an apostolic spirit, founded upon and centered in the Divine Eucharist and focused on the human person, the Church’s missionary ministry is not limited to the proclamation of the Gospel message, but embraces the whole of human life, presenting Orthodoxy as a way of life, communion, love, and salvation.
In Ghana in particular, this long spiritual journey has borne fruit through the establishment of dozens of Orthodox parishes, the formation of local clergy, the strengthening of ecclesiastical education, the development of charitable and social initiatives, and the gradual deepening of the faithful’s ecclesial consciousness, in harmonious dialogue with local cultural traditions.
Especially moving this year is the first official and large-scale participation of the Orthodox Youth Organization of Ghana, with more than one hundred and sixty young men and women present — a fact that testifies to the vitality, dynamism, and hopeful prospects of the Church for the future. The active involvement of young people is the fruit of long-standing pastoral care and a living proof that the Church’s missionary work continues with stability and vision.
The multi-day Festival program includes the daily celebration of the Divine Liturgy and all sacred services, Gospel preaching, spiritual lectures, and various charitable activities that tangibly express the Church’s love for every human person. At the same time, youth games and cultural events are organized, featuring local traditional dances and the chanting of ecclesiastical hymns, harmoniously linking Orthodox liturgical tradition with local culture.
All events are attended and presided over with paternal care by our shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Accra, who through his presence, teaching, and prayer offers spiritual support to the clergy and the people, and especially to the younger generation of the Church, blessing the ongoing course of Orthodoxy in the land of Ghana.
The 70th Annual Orthodox Spiritual Revival Festival in Gomoa Fomena stands as a living testimony to the flourishing presence of the Orthodox Church in Africa and a radiant fruit of the missionary ministry of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, which continues with faith and sacrificial love the apostolic work of the Church “to the ends of the earth.”

70e Festival Annuel de Renouveau Spirituel Orthodoxe à Gomoa Fomena, Ghana
(29 janvier – 1er février 2026)
Avec une joie spirituelle profonde et une vive émotion se tient cette année encore le 70e Festival Annuel de Renouveau Spirituel Orthodoxe, institution spirituelle annuelle de référence pour l’Église orthodoxe du Ghana, du 29 janvier au 1er février 2026, dans le village de Gomoa Fomena, dans la Région centrale du pays, sous la bénédiction de Sa Béatitude le Pape et Patriarche d’Alexandrie et de toute l’Afrique, Théodore II.
Des centaines de fidèles orthodoxes de tous âges, provenant de paroisses de tout le Ghana et accompagnés de leurs prêtres, affluent une fois de plus vers le lieu de rassemblement, le Sanctuaire du Saint Archange Raphaël, afin de participer à des journées de prière intense, d’édification spirituelle, de communion et de fraternité. Depuis sept décennies, ce rassemblement constitue un point de référence pour la vie ecclésiale du pays, renforçant l’unité du Corps de l’Église orthodoxe et renouvelant l’élan spirituel des fidèles.
Cet événement spirituel annuel s’inscrit dans l’œuvre missionnaire vaste et multiforme accomplie sans relâche par le Patriarcat d’Alexandrie à travers tout le continent africain. Animée d’un esprit apostolique, fondée et centrée sur la Divine Eucharistie et orientée vers la personne humaine, la mission de l’Église ne se limite pas à la transmission du message évangélique, mais embrasse l’ensemble de la vie humaine, présentant l’Orthodoxie comme un mode de vie, de communion, d’amour et de salut.
Au Ghana en particulier, ce long parcours spirituel a porté du fruit par la fondation de dizaines de paroisses orthodoxes, la formation d’un clergé local, le renforcement de l’éducation ecclésiastique, le développement d’actions caritatives et sociales, ainsi que par l’approfondissement progressif de la conscience ecclésiale des fidèles, dans un dialogue harmonieux avec les traditions culturelles locales.
Particulièrement émouvante cette année est la première participation officielle et massive de la Jeunesse orthodoxe du Ghana, avec plus de cent soixante jeunes hommes et femmes — un fait qui témoigne de la vitalité, du dynamisme et des perspectives prometteuses de l’Église pour l’avenir. La participation active des jeunes est le fruit d’un soin pastoral de longue date et une preuve vivante que l’œuvre missionnaire de l’Église se poursuit avec constance et vision.
Le programme de plusieurs jours du Festival comprend la célébration quotidienne de la Divine Liturgie et de tous les offices sacrés, la prédication de l’Évangile, des conférences spirituelles, ainsi que diverses actions caritatives qui expriment concrètement l’amour de l’Église pour le prochain. Parallèlement, sont organisés des jeux pour la jeunesse et des manifestations culturelles avec des danses traditionnelles locales et des chants liturgiques, reliant harmonieusement la tradition liturgique orthodoxe à la culture locale.
Toutes les manifestations sont honorées et présidées avec une sollicitude paternelle par le pasteur local, Son Éminence le Métropolite Daniel d’Accra, qui, par sa présence, son enseignement et sa prière, fortifie spirituellement le clergé et le peuple, et tout particulièrement la jeune génération de l’Église, bénissant le cheminement de l’Orthodoxie sur la terre du Ghana.
Le 70e Festival Annuel de Renouveau Spirituel Orthodoxe à Gomoa Fomena constitue un témoignage vivant de la présence florissante de l’Église orthodoxe en Afrique et un fruit lumineux du ministère missionnaire du Patriarcat d’Alexandrie, qui poursuit avec foi et amour sacrificiel l’œuvre apostolique de l’Église « jusqu’aux extrémités de la terre ».
