Divine Liturgy in Turkana

Every year, a group of Orthodox Americans, sent by the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (a missionary organization headquartered in Florida, USA, since its foundation in 1984), visits Kenya and offers valuable medical, educational and catechetical services. Funded by the OCMC, many churches, clinics and schools were constructed. These days, they are visiting Turkana region in northeastern Kenya, where they catechize the primitive tribe of Turkanas, many of which has embraced Orthodoxy.
The program manager visited our missionary center in the Patriarchal School in Riruta, Nairobi. There he met with HE Metropolitan Makarios of Kenya and they cooperated for the visit of two volunteer groups, next June, when the second church in the region will be inaugurated. We should also mention that the region suffers from continuous drought and famine. These volunteers exclusively fund a children feeding and a water well drilling program.
