On Sunday 7th May 2017, His Grace Panteleimon Bishop of Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon conducted the Divine Liturgy at the celebrating Holy Parish Church of St Irene in Dolisie, honouring the sacred memory of the Holy Great Martyr.
Preaching the homily His Grace spoke about the Gospel extract read, as well as the life of St Irene. He also expressed his gratitude to those attending the Eucharistic gathering who through their presence expressed the unity and the solidarity which prevails in the local Church, as well as the recognition of the philanthropic and sold work which it does. In conclusion he conveyed to all the paternal prayers of His Beatitude the Primate of the Ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria.
Prior to the end of the Divine Liturgy he donated a large amount of clothing to the young children, while the Chairman of the Parish Council Mr. Rigober Dallou addressed the Bishop, thanking him for his continual paternal care for the Parish and the institutions adjacent to it (orphanage and school) and emphasized the dynamic presence of the Orthodox Church in the community. He also expressed grateful thanks to the rest of the Niari district authoritite for their honourable presence.
A festive reception followed in the grounds of the adjacent “St Efstathios” Orphanage, after the end of which His Grace gave an interview to the "Télé Congo" state television.
The Feast of St Irene was attended by the honourable presence of His Excellency the Governor of the Niari District, Mr. Ovu André, the Reverend Representative of His Eminence the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Dolisie Mr. Bienvenu Manamika, the representatives of the local self-government and the security forces, the Honourable Mr. Chrysostomos Djimbi Simouna, Chairman of the Dolisie Courts, Member of the Diocesan Council, the Prosecutor of the Republic, the Director of Social Issues and the Director of the Works Inspection of the Niari District, the Chairman of the Parish Community of the Holy Church of St Fotiini in Pointe-Noire Mr. Michel Armand Massa, Member of the Diocesan Council, and others.
