Orthodox Diocese of Gulu and Eastern Uganda
"On this day of the Lord 11th-08-2019, His Grace Bishop Silvester was on a Pastrol visit to the Parish of Ever virgin Mother of God, the Zoodohos pigi (source of life), in Idure Northern Uganda where he celebrated Holy Liturgy. After, there was a thanksgiving service and blessing of the bread plus other gifts. The Bishop toured around the Church area, and the under construction Secondary School which the people of the Area anxiously await as there isn't any secondary school near by, leading the children to walk long distances to near by school. Present were some of the priests from other near by parishes in Gulu, representatives of the Civil authorities and local council leaders. Sunday class children entertained the visitors and a refreshment served by the Mothers. The Bishop among other things, thanked the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. John Okello and his associates for the good service they do in the Parish. He also asked the faithful to continue supporting the Church activities and to work hard in fighting poverty, by engaging more in farming, small scale and large scale which he said will be implemented on the Church land in this area. He also planted a memorial tree at the Church.
