OCMC News - 2020 Mission Teams Available!
Teams like this 2017 healthcare team go a long way in sharing the love of 
Christ around the world!



In 2020, Orthodox mission teams will serve in Alaska, Albania, Colombia, Ghana, Guatemala, Indonesia, and Kenya. Everyone has skills to offer and be a witness around the world (Acts 1:8)!

Albania:
  • 6/9/2020 to 6/25/2020

    Youth Work
    Tirana – Contribute to two amazing ministries in Albania: an English language camp for 150 students from the Orthodox Protaganist School and an VCS program at the Home of Hope. These ministries will expose you to the vibrant ministries of a Church in a nation that is predominantly Muslim. Team will be led by Pamela Barksdale OCMC missionary.

  • 8/11/2020 to 8/22/2020

    Teaching
    Korce – Assist with a catechist training program and help with renovation work at St John the Baptist Monastery in Voskopoje. Catechists from five different metropolises will come together for learning, fellowship, spiritual growth and repairing the retreat center. Team will be led by OCMC missionary Pamela Barksdale.
Colombia:
  • 6/17/2020 to 6/26/2020

    Teaching
    Cerete – Offer the teaching of the Orthodox faith in Cerete and Cartagena in northern Colombia. Help foster a deeper understanding of Orthodoxy for the children, youth and adults of these newly established communities. The White Gold Capital awaits you!
Ghana:
  • 7/27/2020 to 8/7/2020

    Teaching
    Accra – Be a part of an annual Clergy retreat in the Archdiocese of Accra and all Ghana and be part of bringing the example of a self-sufficient Church to the clergy and faithful of the region. Enjoy a time of teaching, fellowship and spiritual growth. Clergy needed.

  • 8/4/2020 to 8/18/2020

    Youth Work
    Larteh – Are you interested in helping the young people of Ghana navigate the challenges of living as an Orthodox Christian in an increasingly challenging society? Participate in a camp that will provide important teaching and lasting fellowship for both counselors and campers.
Guatemala:
  • 3/10/2020 to 3/17/2020

    Healthcare
    Aguacate – The mountainous area of northern Guatemala is home to a growing Orthodox Church. Show the love of Christ by sharing your talents as a health care provider in Aguacate at the Fr. Andres Giron Clinic. Team will be led by OCMC long term missionaries.

  • 5/11/2020 to 5/31/2020

    Outreach
    Aguacate – Are you a student at an Orthodox Seminary? Earn credit hours and study Orthodox Christian missiology under the supervision of Fr. Luke Veronis, director of the Missions Institute and adjunct professor of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA.

  • 6/17/2020 to 6/30/2020

    Teaching
    Nueva Conception – Offer youth and adult catechism, experience worship services, and encourage the faithful in Guatemala where people desire to learn and deepen their faith. The Team will work with OCMC missionaries to Guatemala.

  • 11/6/2020 to 11/15/2020

    Healthcare
    Aguacate – The mountainous area of northern Guatemala is home to a growing Orthodox Church. Show the love of Christ by sharing your talents as a health care provider in Aguacate at the Fr. Andres Giron Clinic. Team will be led by OCMC long term missionaries.
Indonesia:
  • 6/22/2020 to 7/4/2020

    Teaching
    Bali – Assist the Orthodox Church in Indonesia by being part of a youth and family-focused ministry in Singaraja. Teach about the Orthodox Christian understanding of spirituality, prayer, family life, fellowship, and offer a vibrant witness of Christ.
Kenya:
  • 6/19/2020 to 6/29/2020

    Youth Work
    Nyeri – Touch the lives of orphaned children by leading a camp program for 130 children at the St. Mark Primary School in Meru, located in the Diocese of Nyeri and Mt. Kenya. This Team will bring joy and hope to the children, by offering a fun-filled faith-based camp. This Team is reserved for the community of St. George Cathedral in Wichita, KS.

  • 8/8/2020 to 8/17/2020

    Teaching
    Kisumu – Be a part of a vibrant women's ministry in the Diocese of Kisumu and West Kenya. This Diocese retreat brings women from different tribes and regions together for learning, fellowship and spiritual growth.

  • 12/6/2020 to 12/15/2020

    Youth Work
    Kisumu – Contribute to youth ministry efforts of the Diocese of Kisumu and West Kenya at a conference for youth leaders and young adults, helping the Church prepare its future leaders. Individuals with experience teaching and youth work are encouraged to apply.
United States:
  • 6/25/2020 to 7/4/2020

    Youth Work
    Akhiok - Help the Protection of the Theotokos Church in Akhiok, Alaska strengthen its youth ministry efforts by planning and leading a camp program for youth. This Team has been asked to teach the Faith through lessons, discussions, sports and craft activities.

  • 7/22/2020 to 7/31/2020

    Youth Work
    Pilot Station – Prepare lessons for over 55 youth from surrounding villages who will come together at an annual wilderness camp near Pilot Station. Local leaders will teach the youth about their Yup'ik traditions, but lessons on living as an Orthodox in this world and social media are still needed. Team will be hosted by Fr. Stephen Heckman.

  • 8/6/2020 to 8/17/2020

    Youth Work
    Newhalen – Help the community of Holy Transfiguration strengthen its youth ministry efforts by assisting at the annual St. Juvenaly Youth Camp which has made a difference in the lives of the youth from the Iliamna Lake region since 1984. Work side by side with community elders to set up the camp and prepare lessons. Team will be hosted by Fr. David Askoak.
