His Eminence Archbishop Ioannis of Zambia and Malawi penned the following text for the New Year
Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
May your New Year be blessed, hallowed, sanctified, shrouded in felicity, furthered in all good things....
A new year is given to us by the love of God. Our Lord invites us all in a campaign of love, humanity and concord amongst ourselves and our fellow human beings. Getting strength and love from His immense love, let us embrace our fellow human beings. Let us all agree existentially that we are all bothers under His fatherly love. Let us all enjoy and savor the inner joy, peace and tranquility with which we are graced by the presence and blessing of God. Within the life of the Church we can be reborn and enjoy spiritual fulfillment and the completion that we persistently but vainly seek in impassable and harmful paths for our soul.
I look around and I see many signs of hope, but also there are many communities, many families, many individuals struggling,we have intensely lived the drama of many of our fellow human beings. People, families and society, not just ours, are subjected to cruel trial. The consequences of religious fanaticism and bigotry are tragic and catastrophic. The children of the refugees and of the continent we are living in Africa or in othe r words “Third World “ are decimated by destitution and disease, leading them to a premature death.
Perhaps our New Year's resolution is therefore not just to do something slightly differently, but to set our eyes on changing the world around us.
Every new year is a blessing for us, because it grants us an opportunity to start over, to put our lives in order and to restore a more spiritual basis to our lives, to cultivate reconciliation with our selves, with society and especially with God, that we may live worthy lives and redirect our present lives and our eternal futures to the will of God.

May you also receive the abundant and rich blessings of our Lord at the beginning of this New Year as we offer Him glory and honor unto the ages of ages!

With paternal love in Christ,
†IOANNIS
Archbishop of Zambia and Malawi
