SUNDAY, 30th JANUARY 2022: AT TWELVE APOSTLES & SAINT PETER AND PAUL APOSTLES - RWAMAGANA / EAST RWANDA.

With the blessing of His Eminence Innocentios Byakatonda Metropolitan of the Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Burundi and Rwanda, Divine Liturgy was presided by Father Nicholas the newly ordained and appointed Head Priest. A good number of the faithful has attended.

From the outside you can see the Cathedral under construction, at the level of finalization: already the roof is there, and big crosses are being put on the towers.

for all devoted people who are conjugating their efforts to build the first Orthodox Cathedral in Rwanda!

From the Altar: John 21:1-14

Jesus and the Miraculous Catch of Fish

21 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus , Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.

5 He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

“No,” they answered.

6 He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. 9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.

10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Epistle Reading : Hebrews 13:7-16

7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so.10 We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat.

11 The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. 12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. 13 Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. 14 For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.

15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Gospel Reading: Matthew 5:14-19

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

The Fulfillment of the Law

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

DIMANCHE 30 JANVIER 2022 : A DOUZE APÔTRES & SAINTS PIERRE ET PAUL APÔTRES - RWAMAGANA / RWANDA EST.

Avec la bénédiction de Son Eminence Innocentios Byakatonda , Métropolite de la Sainte Métropole Orthodoxe du Burundi et du Rwanda, la Divine Liturgie a été présidée par le Père Nicolas, le nouveau prêtre ordonné et nommé. Un bon nombre de fidèles y ont participé.

De l'extérieur on peut voir la Cathédrale en construction, au niveau de la finalisation : déjà le toit est là, et de grandes croix sont posées sur les tours.

à toutes les personnes dévouées qui conjuguent leurs efforts pour construire la première cathédrale orthodoxe du Rwanda !

Jésus et la pêche miraculeuse de poisson

21 Ensuite, Jésus apparut de nouveau à ses disciples, près de la mer de Galilée. Voici comment cela se passa : 2 Simon Pierre, Thomas (appelé aussi Didyme, Nathanaël de Cana en Galilée, fils de Zébédée) et deux autres disciples étaient ensemble. 3 « Je vais pêcher », leur dit Simon Pierre, et ils dirent : « Nous allons vous accompagner. » Ils sortirent donc et montèrent dans la barque, mais cette nuit-là ils n'attrapèrent rien.

4 Tôt le matin, Jésus se tint sur le rivage, mais les disciples ne se rendirent pas compte que c'était Jésus.

5 Il leur cria : « Amis, n'avez-vous pas de poisson ?

"Non", ont-ils répondu.

6 Il dit : « Jette ton filet du côté droit de la barque et tu en trouveras. Lorsqu'ils l'ont fait, ils n'ont pas pu remonter le filet en raison du grand nombre de poissons.

7 Alors le disciple que Jésus aimait dit à Pierre : « C'est le Seigneur ! Dès que Simon Pierre l'entendit dire : « C'est le Seigneur », il s'enveloppa de son vêtement de dessus (car il l'avait enlevé) et sauta dans l'eau. 8 Les autres disciples suivaient dans la barque, remorquant le filet plein de poissons, car ils n'étaient pas loin du rivage, à environ cent mètres. 9 Lorsqu'ils débarquèrent, ils virent là un feu de charbons ardents avec du poisson dessus et du pain.

10 Jésus leur dit : « Apportez du poisson que vous venez de pêcher. 11 Alors Simon-Pierre remonta dans la barque et tira le filet à terre. Il était plein de gros poissons, 153, mais même avec tant de poissons, le filet n'était pas déchiré. 12 Jésus leur dit : « Venez prendre votre petit déjeuner. Aucun des disciples n'a osé lui demander : « Qui es-tu ? Ils savaient que c'était le Seigneur. 13 Jésus vint, prit le pain et le leur donna, et fit de même avec le poisson. 14 C'était la troisième fois que Jésus apparaissait à ses disciples après qu'il était ressuscité des morts.

Lecture d'épîtres : Hébreux 13:7-16

7 Souvenez-vous de vos chefs qui vous ont annoncé la parole de Dieu. Considérez le résultat de leur mode de vie et imitez leur foi. 8 Jésus-Christ est le même hier, aujourd'hui et éternellement.

9 Ne vous laissez pas emporter par toutes sortes d'enseignements étranges. Il est bon que nos cœurs soient fortifiés par la grâce, et non en mangeant des aliments de cérémonie, ce qui n'est d'aucun profit pour ceux qui le font.10 Nous avons un autel duquel ceux qui servent au tabernacle n'ont pas le droit de manger.

11 Le souverain sacrificateur porte le sang des animaux dans le lieu très saint comme offrande pour le péché, mais les corps sont brûlés hors du camp. 12 Et Jésus aussi souffrit hors de la porte de la ville pour sanctifier le peuple par son propre sang. 13 Allons donc vers lui hors du camp, portant l'opprobre qu'il a portée. 14 Car nous n'avons pas ici de cité permanente, mais nous cherchons la cité à venir.

15 Par Jésus donc, offrons continuellement à Dieu un sacrifice de louange, le fruit de lèvres qui professent ouvertement son nom. 16 Et n'oubliez pas de faire le bien et de partager avec les autres, car c'est à de tels sacrifices que Dieu prend plaisir.

Lecture de l'Evangile : Matthieu 5 :14-19

14 « Vous êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville bâtie sur une colline ne peut être cachée. 15 On n'allume pas non plus une lampe pour la mettre sous une coupe. Au lieu de cela, ils la mettent sur son support, et elle éclaire tout le monde dans la maison.16 De même, que votre lumière brille devant les autres, afin qu'ils voient vos bonnes actions et glorifient votre Père qui est aux cieux.

L'accomplissement de la loi

17 « Ne croyez pas que je sois venu abolir la loi ou les prophètes ; Je ne suis pas venu les abolir mais les accomplir. 18 Car en vérité, je vous le dis, jusqu'à ce que le ciel et la terre disparaissent, pas la moindre lettre, pas le moindre trait de plume ne disparaîtra de la Loi jusqu'à ce que tout soit accompli. 19 C'est pourquoi quiconque renonce à l'un des plus petits de ces commandements et enseigne aux autres en conséquence sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux, mais quiconque pratique et enseigne ces commandements sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux.
