Uganda Orthodox Church - Holy Metropolis of Kampala
Yesterday, 17 January, by the blessings of Metropolitan Ieronymos, His Grace Bishop Silvesteros Kisitu led the celebrations at St Antonios - Monde as the parish observed the feast of its patron saint, Andonios the Great.
After the Divine Liturgy, the bishop also presided over the memorial service for the late Metropolitan Theodoros Nankyama, who reposed in the Lord on the same day, 25 years ago. He further prayed for the soul of the late Rev Fr Andonios Mukiibi, the first ever priest of Monde parish.
The feasters were then entertained by St Mary of Egypt and All Saints choirs from Monde and Bwetyaba, respectively. Popular musician known as Fred Sseremba also performed a song titled "Omutukuvu Andonios" which delves into the life of the desert - dweller.
