The arrival of the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and of all Africa his Beatitude Theodoros the 2nd, to the 50th Anniversary of the Holy Archdiocese of Good Hope in Cape Town was awaited for with great anxiety and pleasure. After his arrival at Cape Town International Airport from Egypt with Father Athinodoros, he was escorted by his Eminence Archbishop Sergios and the consulate of Greece and the honorary consul of Cyprus to the Orthodox Mission Center in Khayelitsha. Here he was greeted with song and dance by the mission children dance group before the commencement of the blessing of the Orthodox Mission Center. After the Blessings he continued to wish the children well for the years to come and expressed his happiness with the Archbishopric’s Work and dedication to the community there and those who helped build and contribute to the works. He then proceeded to hand out gifts of appreciation to all the children.

He was further escorted to the Orthodox Center in Landsdowne for a light lunch and refreshment in a relaxed family environment.
There, again, he expressed his Happiness and thanked everybody involved and those who help the Orthodox Center and the Orthodox Mission. He was given a gift of Appreciation by his Eminence Archbishop Sergios who thanked him for his visit and Blessings of the Orthodox Mission.

After Lunch, he asked to be taken to the Holy Chapel of Saints Raphael, Nicholas, and Irene in the Holy Metropolis in Rondebosh, where he Inaugurated the Chapel 6 years ago. There he was given a large Icon of Christ Painted by Deacon Nicholas Esterhousen for his private collection in Alexandria.
