"Yesterday His Grace Bishop Athanasius was laid to rest at the diocesan center of Kisumu and Western Kenya following a hierarchical Liturgy and funeral service at St. Andrew Gimengwa Cathedral. To the hundreds in attendance, dignitaries remembered His Grace's service to the people of the diocese and offered their condolences. His Eminence Archbishop Makarios reminded everyone that we must all be ready for the unknown journey from this life and to seek hope and joy in Christ's Resurrection. He invited all of the tribes in the area to work together to continue the work of Bishop Athanasius. May his memory be eternal."
