Basil was born on December 7, 1971 in Larteh Akuapem, Ghana. He is the son of Fr. Joseph Kwame Labi, who has been and continues to be one of the most influential leaders of the Orthodox Church in Ghana. Fr. Basil received a scholarship to attend seminary at Hellenic College-Holy Cross School of Theology in Brookline, MA. In December 2009 he was ordained to the diaconate, and to the priesthood in January 2012. Fr. Basil serves the Holy Transfiguration-St. Nicholas Cathedral in Accra.
