With the Blessing of His Eminence Innocentios Byakatonda the Orthodox Bishop of the Holly Diocese of Rwanda and Burundi, the Orthodox Church in Rwanda Gisenyi Community has received visitors from Romania Mr. Silviu Andrei Vladaleanu and Mr. Raj Basil.
On 28th of December 2017 we had a catechism school attended by 42 catechumens where Mr. Andrei preached about Church History, life of Saints and other Church Fathers in the history of the Church and Orthodox Faith. He emphasized on the teachings of the Church, Holly Scriptures and Holly Tradition of the Church difference between the teachings of Roman Catholic and protestant churches compared to the Orthodoxy. The Catechumens asked questions and got answers in order to know more about the new and true faith in our Region because Orthodoxy started in our City since 19/01/2017 where the first person was baptized 2017.
On the 1st of January 20118, we had another catechism school, even if it was on the day of New Year celebration, but catechumens comes in a reasonable number. Those who were absent on 28th December 2017 because it was a working day were present and we got other visitors from different religious confession like Roman Catholic, Protestant churches and Islam, that why on this day we had about 80 persons who wanted to listen more about Orthodoxy. On this Day Mr. Andrei continued to explain and tell to people about the teaching of the Church about the Virgin Mary the life of Saint John of Damascus, Saint Maximos and other Saints who accepted tortures and death because they didn’t want to reject or deny the truth and the Orthodox Faith.
On 2nd January 2018, we visited different area in the city to see where we can get a good geographical place to build a Cathedral in coming years and we visited a place where we can lent so that we can have permanent place for worship and catechism school.
After many questions and answers, we shared together the lunch as Orthodox family to celebrate the New Year and we enjoyed the traditional dances
