"The first Orthodox monastery in Κenya to be opened on Friday November 13th 2020
Finally after 100 years. With the blessings and mentorship of Our beloved Bishop Makarios of Nairobi, the first monastery is set to be officially opened in the diocese of Nairobi.
The monastery of St Moses the black with a chapel dedicated to St John Chrysostom has been in the making for the past 8 years.
The Hieromonk (Fr Archimandrite John) in charge has done a great job. Those close to him can tell. Chasing a dream for 9 years is a great burden. But finally he has made it by the help of God.
This is a great achievement on the part of our Bishop. Himself a monk, he has been in Kenya for over 40 years. Seeing one of his own children and a close worker at the seminary in Nairobi finally move into a life of daily prayer and complete submission is more than a milestone.
Two days from today the doors to join these brotherhood and try monasticism will be open to those who are willing.
May God bless the brotherhood.
Currently You can support the brotherhood through our humble orphanage account (ensure to mark the donation as Brotherhood of St Moses). To help the brotherhood follow the link below www.orthodoxmissionkenya.org/get-involved
