Metropolitan Makarios of Kenya inaugurated the first Orthodox church in the world that is dedicated to the recently glorified Saint Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia

In the morning hours of August 29, 2014, His Eminence the Metropolitan Makarios of Kenya inaugurated the first Orthodox church in the world that is dedicated to the recently glorified Saint Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia; the church is built in a distant area inhabited by the Nandi tribe, in the midst of huge rocks, mountains and dense tropical vegetation, in the very place where the famous lake Victoria starts peeking.
The service began with the introductory part and the procession of the holy relics, then followed the anointment of the church with myrrh and the Divine Liturgy began. A large number of priests, not only of the Nandi tribe but also of other Kenyan tribes, participated.
