LOVING VISIT TO THE PRISON IN POINTE-NOIRE

LOVING VISIT TO THE PRISON IN POINTE-NOIRE

On 18th April 2015, His Grace Panteleimon, Bishop of Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon, accompanied by the Hierarchal Vicar General, Reverend Maxim Oumba, Parish Priest of the Cathedral Church of St Dimitrios and colleagues from the humanistic efforts of the Diocese, visited the prisons in the city to donate a large amount of personal hygiene products and foodstuff, to the three hundred and thirty inmates. This contribution was given in love by the Orthodox faithful from the Parish Communities of St Dimitrios and St Fotini in Pointe-Noire, as well as by the Holy Diocese, for the purchase of the above-mentioned items.

During the visit the Bishop was blessed to be able to meet with all the inmates, men and women, and to speak to them about the Resurrection of the Lord, the personal resurrection of each of them and to offer them words of support and respect.
Also, satisfying a request by the Directorate of the prisons, he also donated stationery to all, as there is a school in the grounds of the penitentiary.
