In his address after the Service, His Eminence welcomed the many non speaking Greeks who had attended and encouraged the parents and grand parents to bring the children to church. Particularly, during this important Feast of the Dormition which their church is named after.
The Service on Sunday morning included a Memorial Service for the late Yiannoula Patsalos, wife of the late George Patsalos, a past chairman who had always been a very active member of the community and the church. It was also the fourty day memorial Service for the late mother of Nicky Holtzhausen. The memorial Service was held in Port Elizabeth to accommodate relatives living there. And the three day memorial Service was included for the late Angelos Savvas who during his lifetime had always been a loyal and supportive member of the church and the community. May their memory be eternal.
The celebratory lunch on Sunday 16th was attended by two hundred people. Peter Clainos welcomed His Eminence and thanked him for spending time with them in Port Elizabeth. His Eminence urged the youth to participate in the sacramental life of the Church and community life.
His Eminence stopped over in George on his way to Port Elizabeth where he met with the community leaders. He was also able to meet with community leaders and members from East London who had travelled to Port Elizabeth to meet with him.
