ΔΕΙΤΕ ΤΟ ΒΙΝΤΕΟ:
ETABLISH THE THIRD LEG OF THE (Great Lent) FAST
As the Great Fast begins and the Faithful begin their journeys to Pascha, the St. Barnabas Orthodox Mission offers the opportunity to establish the third leg of the Fast. There are three leg of any Holy and Honourable Fasting.
1. Abstaining from rich and abundantly portioned foods such as meat, dairy and oil. It also includes restricting intake to simple and meager portion of vegetables, beans and fruit....
2. Prayer. Redeeming the use of time in preparing sumptuous fares to expand our personal prayer rule using prayers such are the Prayer of Saint Ephraim (Lord and Master of my life). We should also consider attending services more frequently, gathering together in corporate prayers and communion.
3. Alms giving. The money accumulated from vain entertainment and expensive foods is apportioned and distributed to the poor. We also impoverish ourselves as the widows to give clothing, food and water to Christ. And remember, He (Jesus) is present in the poor.

As the drought in Kenya persists, food prices continue to rise. We have been able so far, thanks to donations from friends and donors, to feed our children, but the threat of hunger is constantly in the forefront of our minds during this crisis, more than ever. Therefore, with the blessings of HE Makarios Tillyrides Kenyas we are humbly asking that you prayerfully consider a regular donation to our Orphanage. We understand that this is a hard decision, but we believe that, by the grace of God, all things are possible. If we are supported by regular donations, we will be able to have a secure food program for our children. If you have someone in mind that you think would want to donate in the future, please consider passing this request along to them as well. If there are any questions, I will be happy to make myself available to answer them.
Please forgive my constant requests. The children’s needs are always on my mind, and I seek to support them the best that we can. Please pray for the children and for me.
