THE CADETS OF THE GREEK NAVAL ACADEMY AT THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA

 
 
 
On 24th July 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, welcomed to the Patriarchal See in the presence of His Eminence Narkissos Metropolitan of Accra, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, the students of the Naval Cadet Academy of the Greek Navy, as part of their annual summer educational voyage, which is taking place these days in Alexandria.
The Cadets were accompanied by the Defense Attaché of Greece in Cairo Captain B. Tsoukas, the Commander of the warship “PGY PROMETHEUS” Lieutenant Commander Adamantios Christodoulou and Officers of the Academy.
During the meeting, His Beatitude spoke about the history and the missionary activities of the ancient Patriarchate on the African continent, thanked the Navy for the donation, manufacture and transport of bells for the needs of the churches throughout Africa and wished the Cadets a successful career. Subsequently, the Commander and His Beatitude exchanged commemorative gifts and the Cadets from the Academy had the opportunity of being taken on a conducted tour of the Patriarchate, the Museum and the Patriarchal Sacristy.
On the evening of the same day, His Beatitude the Patriarch, accompanied by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Daniel Biazis, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, went to the Naval Station of Alexandria and boarded the warship “PGY PROMETHEUS”, thereby returning the visit of the Cadets of the Naval Academy.

Με το έλεος του Παναγάθου Θεού και την έμπρακτη αγάπη Ελλήνων και Κονγκολέζων ορθοδόξων αδελφών ένα ακόμη κοντέινερ μήκους 12 μέτρων αναχωρεί από την Ελλάδα με προορισμό την οικονομική πρωτεύουσα του Κονγκό-Μπραζαβίλ, το Pointe-Noire, όπου η έδρα της Ιεράς Επισκοπής Μπραζαβίλ και Γκαμπόν.
Το κοντέινερ, το οποίο αποστέλλεται στον αφρικανικό ισημερινό με πρωτοβουλία της Ι.Επισκοπής, εμπεριέχει μεταξύ άλλων παλέττες μεγάλων πλακιδίων γρανίτη για την ολοκλήρωση του δαπέδου του ανεγειρομένου Καθεδρικού Ναού Αγίου Δημητρίου Pointe-Noire, ως και του Ενοριακού Ναού Αγίας Φωτεινής Pointe-Noire, είδη ρουχισμού, υπόδησης, ηλεκτρικές συσκευές, κλινοσκεπάσματα, σχολικό-εκπαιδευτικό υλικό και παιχνίδια για τα περιθαλπόμενα μικρά παιδιά στο ορθόδοξο Ορφανοτροφείο «Άγιος Ευστάθιος», πλακίδια και είδη υγιεινής για τα εκ βάθρων ανακαινιζόμενα λουτρά του ιδίου ευαγούς ιδρύματος (έχει χαρακτηρισθεί από το έτος 2014 ως το καλύτερο κοινωνικό ίδρυμα της χώρας από το Υπουργείο Κοινωνικών Υποθέσεων του Κονγκό-Μπραζαβίλ), εκκλησιαστικά είδη και καμπάνες για τους Ναούς και πολλά άλλα απαραίτητα είδη για τους εμπεριστάτους Αφρικανούς συνανθρώπους μας.
Η ευγνωμοσύνη της τοπικής Εκκλησίας του Κονγκό-Μπραζαβίλ προς όσους συνέβαλαν και σε αυτήν την προσπάθεια είναι απεριόριστη.

“MEMORY ETERNAL” OF THE PATRIARCHS OF BLESSED MEMORY

 
 
 
On 23rd July 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated at the Service of Orthros and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.
After the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, the Alexandrian Patriarch, together with the Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, His Eminence Narkissos Metropolitan of Accra, led the Sacred Memorials for the repose of the late Patriarchs of Alexandria of blessed memory, Meletios II Metaxakis (+28/7/35), Christoforos II Daniilides (+23/7/67), Nicholas VI Varelopoulos (+9/7/86) and Parthenios III Koinides (+23/7/96), who passed during the month of July.
Present at the above Services were the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis and many faithful Christians.
A memorial homily was given, by order of His Beatitude, by the Chief Secretary of Holy Synod, Archim. Daniel Biazis, speaking about the late blessed Patriarchs. Addressing His Beatitude, the speaker mentioned that “Your initiative to honour and to pay a debt of gratitude that you have shown to your predecessor Patriarchs, for what each of them contributed to the presence of our ancient Patriarchate to the twentieth century, conducting their Sacred Memorial, is for all of us an example to be imitated. The great virtue of gratitude born of the awareness of the innumerable benefits and gifts from God and the people, we all know that this fills your Patriarchal heart, and reveals itself in all the manifestations of Your Patriarchal ministry…”.
Following the Memorials refreshments were served in the Monastery Guest hall.

This morning, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios went to visit the parish of Kiungururia, Nakuru. He checked on the construction of the Church and the orphanage. Abbah Raphael was with His Eminence. For. Raphael is work so hard to make sure the construction and the progress is going on well. His Eminence was very happy to see the hard work of Fr. Raphael, and how well Fr. is proceeding on.
