Elly had a tough life. She was born in Turkey in 1913, and at the age of 10 was forcibly removed in the ethnic cleansing that followed the Graeco-Turkish War. One of her grandchildren was killed in a road accident and one of her children was murdered.
Until about 4-5 years ago, when she was well into her 90s, she used to drive herself to church, but now she is dependent on others to bring her.
We had the oldest and youngest members in church together
With some other members of the parish, Harry Tambourlas, Reader and choir member, and Georgia Jammine, choir director
