The sacred memory of the Great Martyr St Dimitrios the Myrrhgusher, Patron Saint of the local Church of Congo-Brazzaville, was celebrated on Sunday 26 October 2014, at the temporary Cathedral of the same name in Pointe-Noire.
His Grace Panteleimon, Bishop of Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon, conducted the Divine Liturgy together with the Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Maximos Oumba, Hierarchal Vicar General of the Holy Diocese and Parish Priest of the celebrating Church, and Economos Fr. Lavrentios Mpinga, parish Priest of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Pointe-Noire. He also preached the homily, speaking about the example of the unshakeable faith of the Great Martyr.
The Parish Community of the Ascensionof the Lord, of Pointe-Noire also participated in the Eucharistic gathering. An outdoor festive gathering followed with traditional dances and songs.
