OCMC Highlight: The Support a Mission Priest Program

The Support a Mission Priest (SAMP) program provides financial assistance to indigenous priests in extremely poor areas around the world. SAMP enables priests to engage in the work of preaching the gospel through evangelism, offering catechism, and administering the sacraments for the growing Orthodox Church. Individuals, parishes, and organizations in North America can pledge to offer $600 per year, which enables the supp...ort of one SAMP priest for the entire year.

Currently, SAMP is assisting over 370 priests in 16 countries in Africa and Southeast Asia: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. But there are over 200 more priests in these same countries that we lack the financial resources to sponsor. Adding support for even just 10 priests would make a tremendous difference for these struggling churches!
