St. Innocent Educational Center
St. Innocent's Educational Center is a small school dedicated to the education of some of the poorest and at risk children in Tiriki-Kenya. The school is run by Fr. Jonah (Eliud Rotich) and his wife, Papadhia Clarah. They are Orthodox Christians in the Kisumu Diocese of Western Kenya in the Nandi vicarage, under the direction of Bishop Athanasios.
Together, Fr. Jonah and his Papadhia have provided a safe place for the children to come each day, receive a hot meal, and learn to read, write, and do arithmetic. The curriculum is provided by the Ministry of Education of Kenya.
St. Innocent's currently enrolls 137 children, 62% of whom are orphaned. Several of these children live with Fr. Jonah and his wife. The needs of this remote school are very great, but so are the rewards!
