On Saturday 7 June 2014, His Eminence Archbishop Sergios travelled to Durban and he managed to attend Liturgy for the Saturday of Souls at the Church of Saint Nicholas in Durban, officiated by Fr. Constantinos Kosmidis. The service was very well attended with more than thirty prepared dishes of Kolyva. After the service, Father Constantinos welcomed His Eminence and invited him to address the congregation. His Eminence responded by thanking Father Constantinos who has recently been appointed as parish priest for KwaZulu-Natal.
His Eminence also expressed his gratitude to the congregation for conserving the Holy Tradition of the Church by remembering their forefathers who had passed away. He said it is important to remember the benefactors of our churches, parents, teachers and forefathers, and to respect their contribution to our Orthodox communities in Africa. They have secured a future for us and we have a responsibility to pass on our Holy Tradition to future generations.
