SUNDAY OF ST MARY OF EGYPT CELEBRATED AT MONDE:

Yesterday, 10 April, His Eminence Metropolitan Jeronymos was joined by Bishops, Silvester and Nectarios of Jinja and Gulu, respectively, to celebrate the fifth Sunday of Lent at St Mary of Egypt Monastery - Monde. The feast day of Saint Mary of Egypt is April 1, but as a model of repentance, the Church dedicates the fifth Sunday of the fast to her commemoration as we draw nigh to Pascha.

While giving an impassioned sermon during the the eucharistic service in the church of St Andonios, Archbishop Jeronymos called on the congregation to pray for the clerics so they can stand strong in preaching God's love and compassion. He added that Satan and God coexist but the latter, who redeemed Mary of Egypt from a profligate life, does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.

St Mary of Egypt and Orphanage center is found at Monde village in Luweero district and is led by Abbess Maria as the spiritual mother of the community.
