"To do alms is a work greater than miracles. . . . To feed the hungry in the name of Christ is a work greater than raising the dead in Christ's name. …When thou work miracles, you are God's debtor; when you give alms, God is your debtor." St. John Chrysostom
Greater than miracles? Greater than raising the dead? How amazing a thing it is that we are called GOD'S debtor when He has already given so much!
This spring was a time of upheaval, chaos, and a great test of faith for ...the many children assisted through the donations and efforts of Orthodox Africa. Parts of Kenya, including the slum of Kibera where many of the children live, go to school, and worship were scene to live fire, burning barriers, and riots making it dangerous indeed for these children and the adults serving them to travel. At times public transportation in and out of Kibera was shut down so one of our priests had to find other ways to make it in to assist the children. Some of the ministries are struggling to even feed the children and pay the rent this month.
If you would like to participate in this great gift please visit our website below.
All funds raised from the Orthodox Africa site go directly toward your chosen ministry. Those of us maintaining and assisting Orthdox Africa receive no financial compensation for our time so you know your funds go where they are most needed! Please review the needs of our ministries and give as you feel God leads you (donations buttons are toward the bottom of the page).
God bless you in this season of Pentecost!
