A new church offered with love to the Orthodox faithful of Southern Madagascar...
Tolagnaro (formerly known as Fort Dauphin) is a city on the southern shore of Madagascar with a population of 46,000 people and serves as the administrative center of the region. During the last years, the Orthodox diocese of Madagascar has developed missionary activities in the city, which have already born fruits. The Orthodox community of Tolagnaro had grown and needed their own church. Thankfully, in March 2015 an anonymous donor from Thessaloniki decided to help them get it.
Construction works started and progressed very quickly and the erection of a two-storey building has already been completed. On the floor, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior will operate, while below a rectory was constructed, so that the parish can accomodate its own priest.
Soon, the inauguration will be conducted. We cordially thank everyone who helped with this project.
