METROPOLITAN IOANNIS of ZAMBIA and MALAWI MEETS WITH SPEAKER OF THE PARLIAMENT OF ZAMBIA HON.PATRIC MATIBINI

Orthodox Metropolis of Zambia and Malawi

 

 

On 15 March 2017, His Eminence with the blessing of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, , met with the High Court Judge and Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt. Hon Justice, Dr Patrick Matibini at his office at the premises of the Parliament.
The discussions “took place in a cordial atmosphere”, and highlighted the go...od existing relations between the Orthodox Metropolis in Lusaka and Zambian Goverment.
His Eminence informed the Hon.Dr.Patrick Matibini , the collaboration of the Orthodox Church, along with her contribution in the social, and in aid to those most in need in Zambia and all around Africa also expressed the strong will of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa to establish a Department of Ancient Greek and Biblical Studies at the University of Zambia UNZA under the auspices and blessings of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa
His Eminence also with his capacity as Coordinator and Liaison between the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy an Pan African Parliament informed the Hon. Speaker that on last week of May is being planed in Lusaka a Conference themed “Dialogue among the monotheistic religions in Africa”

The conversation continued with an exchange of views on the social situation, with special reference to the development of democratic institutions and the end of the meeting the Hon.Speaker of the Assembly congratulated His Eminence on the activities and promised that he would exert every effort for the Project of establishing ancient Greek and Biblical Studies as a regular university subject.
