Archbishopric of Good Hope

In his address after the service His Eminence said that  today as Christians we are entering into the period of Great and Holy week when we relive the Passion of Jesus Christ. He said that yesterday we commemorated the resurrection of Lazarus and soon we would be commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, both as men.  His Eminence went on to say that we are in the middle of two resurrections – Jesus Christ as man and Lazarus as man.  We are also called to consider our own personal resurrection through Christ which applies to us as individuals and the choices we make.
He said that on Palm Sunday Christ made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a donkey among the people who were shouting “Hosanna” to glorify Him whom they recognised as King of all. Later some of those very same people would be shouting “crucify Him”.
He said that in our times (as in the times of Christ) there are two groups of people. Those who acknowledge Christ and call out “Hosanna”and “Kyrie Eleison” (Jesus Christ son of God have mercy on me a sinner). And those who choose not to acknowledge Christ in their lives.  The first group “Glorify Christ” through prayer and repentance and the second group “Crucify” and renounce Him by choosing to fall into sin by accepting the temptations of the devil.
His Eminence urged everyone to attend services during Holy Week and to be diligent with prayer and fasting, so as to receive the gift of our own resurrection with Jesus Christ and the appearance of His presence in our personal lives.
