OCMC News - 5 Volunteers Needed to Teach English in Kenya
OCMC Is seeking 5 volunteers to join a team that will travel to Nairobi, Kenya to teach English to students studying at the Makarios III Seminary and the Orthodox Teachers College of Africa and the St. Clement of Alexandria School. Please contact the Mission Center for more information or to volunteer today!
There is a Chinese saying: “To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world.” An OCMC short-term mission team will be traveling to Kenya from October 27th to November 8th to teach English to students studying at the Makarios III Seminary, the Orthodox Teachers College of Africa, and the St. Clement of Alexandria School. Five more volunteers are needed to join this team and to present students in Kenya with a new window through which they can view the world.
By teaching English to our brothers and sisters in Kenya, you will be empowering them with a skill that can enable them to communicate globally. This new window could open up to opportunities in life that they would have otherwise been unable to realize. English is a global language – a bridge upon which people can journey as they grow both personally and spiritually.
The 2014 OCMC Kenya Orthodox Mission Team will be leading classes, tutoring students, and teaching the English language. The team will also incorporate Biblical and catechetical truths in lessons and offer conversational experiences with students who desire to learn English from native English speakers.
All travel in-country will be in Nairobi, one of Africa’s largest and most vibrant cities and the seat of the Holy Archdiocese of Kenya. This team is a great chance to experience Orthodox missions, a tremendous opportunity to explore Africa, and a unique privilege to enjoy fellowship with our Kenyan Orthodox brothers and sisters. Please consider applying today!
