Dallas, Texas – On September 17th, 2014, during a meeting of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America, OCMC Executive Director Fr. Martin Ritsi addressed the gathered hierarchs, sharing a history of the Mission Center and an update on its worldwide mission efforts. During his remarks, he underscored the benefits the organization derives from being an Assembly agency, the partnerships it enjoys with the other agencies, and how the OCMC is a benefit to the Assembly of Bishops. Fr. Martin also took the opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the work of the Mission Center over the past 30 years (20 years as a pan-Orthodox agency) and to share OCMC’s vision going forward.
Agency heads from International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), Orthodox Christian Network (OCN), Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF), Orthodox Christian Education Commission (OCEC), Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry (OCPM), and the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting (EOCS) also made presentations.
His Grace Bishop Gregory, Primate of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the USA and Chairman of the Assembly’s Committee for Agencies and Endorsed Organizations, gathered the agency heads for a breakfast where future activities and challenges were further discussed.
Each agency signifies the high priority that the Assembly places on the ministries they have been blessed to facilitate. Through these agencies, a unique manifestation of Orthodox Christian unity is presented.
At the meeting, the work being done by all of the agencies was reaffirmed by the Assembly. The staff, board, missionaries, and volunteers of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center look forward to continuing the vital work of missions with the blessings of the Assembly hierarchs and thank them for their continued prayers and guidance.
