"Help Fr Themi help the children help themselves to break the cycle of poverty with education..."

TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD

The Day of the African Child honours the courage of students who fought for their right to education in the Soweto Uprising of 1976, but how much progress have children in sub-Saharan Africa made in gaining access to quality education?
In sub-Saharan Africa has seen the number of out-of-school children of primary school age (typically aged 6 to 11 years old) decline from 41 million in 2000 to 30 million in 2012. But progress in... further reducing this number has stalled. Poverty disease and conflict are among the reasons children drop out, leave early or never enter school.
Across the sub Sahara, 28 million girls alone, roughly between the ages of 6 and 15 are not in school, and many will never even set foot in a classroom.

Help Fr Themi help the children help themselves to break the cycle of poverty with education.
