In His address after the service His Eminence made mention of the significance of this Feast. He said that we are all called to carry a cross in one form or another in our lives. And the Fathers of the Church planted the Life-giving Cross on this the third Sunday of Lent to remind us of the resurrection of Christ and to fortify us to continue to the end of our Lenten journey when we will participate in the resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
He welcomed the newly elected members of the main committee who were occupying the front pew. He said it was refreshing to see others (besides the president) who are regular members of the church and especially the youngest member of the committee who is also president of the Hellenic Students Association at UCT.  He also thanked the ladies and mothers of the community who have taken on the responsibility to give of their time to take up the cross of caring for the spiritual needs of the children of the parish, and also the parents and grand parents who bring the children to church regularly...
