The Prime Minister of Morocco meets with Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria


 
Rabat – Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane met, on Monday in Rabat, with Eastern Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa Theodore II who is on a visit to Morocco.
 
During the meeting, Pope Theodore II expressed joy at his first visit to Morocco while praising the traditions of tolerance and coexistence between religions in the Kingdom.
Pope Theodore II also shed light on the charity activities led by the Orthodox Church in Africa in fields relating to health, education and training.
For his part, Benkirane highlighted the role of the institution of the commandership of the faithful as a safeguard of the Kingdom’s unity as well as the freedom of religion.
In this connection, the Head of the Government pointed out to the co-existence in Morocco of Muslims, Jews and Christians in tranquility, security and mutual respect.
The meeting was attended by Greek Ambassador to Morocco and the delegation accompanying Pope Theodore II.
